Alejandro Garnacho did not have the same impact on the Europa League final that he would have been hoping for.
Ruben Amorim raised eyebrows with his starting XI for the Europa League final with Leny Yoro returning from injury to start in Bilbao.
Perhaps the most surprising decision was that Mason Mount started ahead of Alejandro Garnacho, despite the Argentine playing a crucial role in the run to the final.
Unfortunately, Mount failed to impress in the final, and Amorim left it until the 70th minute to introduce Garnacho from the bench. The 20-year-old looked sharp after coming on, but was unable to inspire an equaliser.
Garnacho was furious at his game time in the final and he threatened that he will now “see what happens next” in the summer transfer window.

Alejandro Garnacho praises Tottenham star Cristian Romero
Garnacho’s comments about his future will be a huge concern, especially as reports claim Ineos will consider selling Garnacho this summer.
His frustration is understandable – United were poor on the night and his lack of game time was a surprise. But Amorim will not appreciate one of his star players lashing out in the media.
In another interview with ESPN, Garnacho chose to praise Tottenham star Cristian Romero, labelling him “the best centre back in the world”.

Garnacho’s praise for his compatriot came after a game in which Romero was insufferably provoking United players, including Harry Maguire who clashed with the defender after the final whistle.
Romero was called a “disgrace” for his antics during the final but Garnacho instead chose to praise him after the match.
Ruben Amorim has huge Alejandro Garnacho decision to make
Garnacho made it blindingly clear that he was annoyed by Amorim’s selection decision in the Europa League final, and now there is a big decision to make for Sunday.
United conclude their Premier League campaign against Aston Villa on Sunday, and it will be interesting to see whether Garnacho is involved in the match at Old Trafford after his comments.
Garnacho has been linked with Napoli and Chelsea ahead of the summer window, and if he is left out of the Villa match, it is the biggest signal that he could be heading for the exit.

Even before the Europa League final, Garnacho sent a message to Amorim by posting photos of last year’s FA Cup final where he made a huge impact on the result.
There were obvious signs of discontent from the Argentine international, and Ineos and Amorim must decide if they want to keep hold of Garnacho heading into the all-important 2025/26 campaign.
