'Trophy drought? What trophy drought?' Newcastle United put out perfect TikTok after Tottenham…

The full-time whistle hadn't stopped echoing around the San Mames stadium in Bilbao last night, and the memes were already hitting social media.

Tottenham Hotspur lifted the Europa League Trophy at the expense of Manchester United, sparking delight amongst huge portions of the English footballing world. Polls before the game had many neutral fanbases hoping for a Spurs win, and they got their wish.

It wasn't a match for the ages by any stretch, and indeed, Spurs' only goal of the game was probably one of the worst goals ever scored in a major final, but that didn't matter come full time.

Memes celebrating Spurs' win, mocking Manchester United and ones highlighting "The Year Of The Birds" after Liverpool (Liver birds), Crystal Palace (Eagles), Newcastle (Magpies) and Spurs (Soccer Chickens) all lifted trophies this season hit social media almost instantly.

Son Heung-Min lifts the Europa League trophy with Tottenham Hotspur

Newcastle United nailed it with their congratulatory TikTok

Newcastle United's social media team got in on the act, but rather than going down the mocking Man United route, which would have been perfect, the team put up a TikTok celebrating the cup wins of Crystal Palace, Tottenham and Newcastle, ending some huge trophy droughts.

The TikTok's title was indeed, "Trophy drought? What trophy drought?" and was simply an image of all three clubs lifting their respective trophies with the voice-over clip of Paul Rudd on Hot Ones with his famous "Look at us, who'd have thought?" line.

It was a nice touch from Newcastle United and shows a bit of class given how much Spurs have openly tried to hamper our progress since the takeover - we haven't forgotten, Daniel Levy!!

Ange Postecoglou kept his promise

Ange Postecoglou got his mic drop moment by lifting the trophy last night after declaring he always wins trophies in his second season. It would be hilarious if he just walks away from Spurs now after all the crap he's taken all season.

Meanwhile, there's no European football for Manchester United next season, which will be financially devastating and utterly hilarious.

Both teams have been absolutely honking this season, and neither deserved silverware, but Spurs winning was the lesser of two evils, so we're happy for them. I guess.
