Jack Grealish has told friends he does not expect to be at Man City next season, sources have told Football Insider.

The England star, 29, has struggled for game time this season and did not even come off the bench as City lost the FA Cup final 1-0 to Crystal Palace last weekend.

Grealish has confided to those close to him that he believes he has been “frozen out” by Pep Guardiola because the manager wants him to seek a move.

One huge complication is the attacking midfielder’s wages, which Football Insider understands to be worth £350,000-a-week.

It means there a few clubs capable of signing Grealish, either permanently or on loan next season.

He has two more years remaining on the six-year deal he signed when joining from Aston Villa in the summer of 2021.

Nevertheless, Grealish does not want to warm the bench for another campaign after being given just 1,521 minutes this season, including only seven Premier League starts.

A summer transfer is now more likely than not, as the player reaches a crossroads in his career going into the summer transfer window.

Jack Grealish set for showdown talks over Man City future

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 13 May that Grealish will hold talks with Guardiola about his future at the end of the season.

He is thought to be keen to break back into the first-team plans at the Etihad, but will be forced to consider his options if he is not given assurances over his playing time.

The England international has been trusted to play just five minutes of football across City’s last six domestic fixtures, as a 92nd-minute substitute against Bournemouth.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 18 March that Man City will let Grealish leave as he is no longer part of Guardiola’s plans.

Meanwhile, he is keen to break back into the England squad as new boss Thomas Tuchel left him out of his first selection in March.

Pep Guardiola eyes Morgan Gibbs-White swoop

Alongside a number of potential departures this summer, Guardiola is also aiming to bolster his squad, with Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White in his sights.

Football Insider revealed on 18 May that Forest’s financial concerns could boost Man City in their pursuit of the England midfielder this summer.

Having been delivered a points deduction last season for financial indiscretions, concerns remain about their position and potential further sanctions.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 16 May that Forest may be forced to sell Gibbs-White and Murillo to comply with the financial rules.
