Manchester United are set to pay a £10 million fine as a result of not winning Wednesday's Europa League final against Tottenham. Ruben Amorim's side put in an abject performance in Bilbao, with their defeat meaning that they will not be competing in Europe at all next season as a result of their woeful Premier League campaign.
The defeat to Spurs also means that the Old Trafford outfit will miss out on a major windfall of cash that they would have received by qualifying for the Champions League. However, as if things weren't bad enough financially amid the non-stop cost-cutting measures, United will now be dealt an even bigger monetary blow as a result of their latest disappointment.

United Set to Pay Fine to Adidas
The sports brand is the kit manufacturer for the Red Devils
According to a report from the Mirror, United are set to incur a £10 million financial penalty from kit sponsor Adidas after failing to secure Champions League qualification for a second consecutive season. Their defeat in the Europa League final on Wednesday confirmed that they will once again be absent from Europe’s elite competition.
According to the terms of their agreement with the German sportswear giant, United are required to participate in the Champions League at least once every two seasons. Falling short of that benchmark has now triggered a clause in the deal that reduces the value of the partnership.
Not only will this provide yet another stumbling block when it comes to the club's ability to keep up with FFP, it comes months after Sir Jim Ratcliffe suggested the club could have gone bust without further investment. It may also eat into United's transfer budget for next season, which will no doubt have already dwindled as a result of failing to qualify for Europe.
