Liverpool star Mohamed Salah would clash with potential summer signing Rodrygo, according to Didi Hamann

Didi Hamann has warned Liverpool against signing Real Madrid star Rodrygo this summer. Spanish publication Marca have reported that the Brazilian's discontent at Real has increased throughout the 2024/25 season.

Despite featuring in 50 matches across all competitions, with 38 starts, his role has changed due to the high-profile acquisitions of Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe, leading to tactical adjustments by manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti had to justify Rodrygo's absence from two crucial fixtures, including their El Clasico match against Barcelona earlier this month, attributing it to illness and injury. However, rumours had already started to swirl, with suggestions that the winger had made a drastic decision never to play for Real again.

The Guardian later claimed that Liverpool, along with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester City, are being 'attentive' to the situation and are ready to pounce if tensions rise further over the summer.

But former Reds midfielder Hamann believes Rodrygo's arrival at Anfield would not work with Salah still the main man on Merseyside under head coach Arne Slot.

"I think Rodrygo would clash with Mohamed Salah at Liverpool," he said via BettingLounge.co.uk.

"He's done well at Real Madrid, but he probably hasn't done as well as they expected. There's a lot of unrest and a lot of turmoil in Madrid with the players, the players have a lot of power.

"Bringing a player from Madrid in at the moment, the way they behaved over the last 12 months with not attending the Ballon d’Or ceremony, when they lost against Barcelona.

"It’s not Rodrygo's fault, but I think there's a lot of things in Madrid crept in which are toxic. From that perspective, bringing in a player from Madrid at the moment, I'd be careful."
