"He should walk..." - Sky Sports pundit tells key Man Utd figure to quit immediately

Jamie O'Hara has called for Ruben Amorim to walk away from the Manchester United job after "crawling" to the Europa League final and ending up in defeat.

Amorim is now under huge pressure after United suffered a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in San Mames on Wednesday night. His men put in a dissapointing performance and the fallout has seen the Portuguese coach come under heavy criticism.

The Red Devils have endured the worst season in the club's history, finishing the season trophyless and at least below 14th while currently occupying 16th in the Premier League table. Amorim arrived in November and has overseen just 16 wins in 41 games while suffering 17 defeats.

O'Hara Tells "Shocking" Amorim To Walk

The Man Utd coach responded to questions over his future

Jamie O'Hara

O'Hara gave a grim verdict of Amorim's time in charge of United thus far when asked whether he should quit. He told Sky Sports:

"He should walk. It isn't going to take long (lose board's confidence) we will see what happens in pre-season. The only saving grace that he's got is that he didn't want the job until the end of the season. He wanted to come in then because he knew what he had to deal with."

There were reservations over Amorim's appointment because of his intent to implement a 3-4-3 system at Old Trafford. He's failed to do so and O'Hara thinks that will always be the case at United:

"He knew he had a system, he's very bullish, I'll stick with it. They don't have the players to play that system, I don't think they are ever gonna have the players to suit that system. I dont think it works at a massive football club like Manchester United.

United's defeat to Spurs was their first in Europe this season but that's the only positive in a nightmare start to Amorim's reign that will finish with the worst Premier League campaign in history. Their journey to the Europa League final was full of drama but no fairytale ending occured largely down to a poor performance.

O'Hara alluded to this:

"He should walk because he's not the right man for the job. The performances he's put in since he's gone there have been shocking. He nearly saved their season by crawling their way to a Europa League final but then you put that performance in a Europa League final. You've got to look at it as a manager and go 'this is nowhere good enough, the players can't take on board what I wanna do'.

Amorim spoke about his future after the final and said he'd be "willing to quit without compensation" if the board don't believe he's the right man for the job.

O'Hara doubts he'd be willing to walk:

"He should walk but he's not gonna walk because there's too much money on offer. So he's not going to walk and at times for himself he'll believe he can turn it around. I don't see any positives."

Amorim was reportedly prepared to leave in January after United suffered a 3-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion but CEO Omar Berrada ensured he stayed put. The board are said to still be backing the former Sporting CP ahead of a massively imporrtant summer transfer window.
