Report: Matheus Cunha transfer from Wolves to Man United may have taken a shock twist as fresh…

Wolves fans are excited for Matheus Cunha to leave Molineux to bring an end to his drawn-out transfer saga.

When Cunha signed a new contract at the start of February, everyone knew this was done to protect Wolves from losing their star asset in the transfer window and insert a release clause in his contract.

That was agreed at £62.5 million, prompting several clubs to show interest in his signature, including Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Recently, it’s Man United who emerged as a leading candidate to sign Cunha, whose preference was to move to Old Trafford despite placing below Wolves in the table.

It was reported that Cunha would complete his move to United ‘this week’ after agreeing on personal terms, but now, a shock twist may have emerged in this transfer saga.

Man United could miss out on Matheus Cunha after Europa League final defeat

On Wednesday night, Wolves fans taunted Cunha after Man United lost 1-0 in the Europa League final against Tottenham, who ended their 17-year wait for a trophy.

Supporters mocked Cunha because it was felt he would join Ruben Amorim’s project even if they missed out on Champions League football.

But, according to The Mirror, United’s failure in Bilbao means they also face missing out on signing their top summer targets, including Cunha, Liam Delap and Victor Osimhen.

It wasn’t believed that the Red Devils missing out on Europe and finishing low down in the Premier League would have impacted Cunha’s decision-making, but the whole situation is becoming laughable now, and supporters will just want it resolved.

Cunha transfer saga is becoming a circus

During the final few months of Wolves campaign, Cunha has teased about leaving Molineux multiple times on social media.

The 25-year-old has also been involved in interviews, where he’s made it clear he sees his future elsewhere.

Since then, fans have been excited for him to depart the club and start afresh elsewhere, expectedly at Man United.

But the whole saga involving the Brazilian is becoming a circus, as it was also reported by talkSPORT’s Alex Crook that United missing out on European football doesn’t impact Cunha’s switch to Old Trafford.

Currently, they’re close to confirming his signature, but it wouldn’t be at all surprising if he had a last-minute change of mind.

Ultimately, Cunha is wanted by several clubs, and most of them will be playing in Europe next term, so he isn’t short of options. Fans will just hope there’s a resolution before pre-season as the situation is becoming a farce.
