Former Liverpool and Manchester City winger Albert Riera is reportedly in the frame for the vacant Hull City's manager's job. Sun journalist Alan Nixon says the Spaniard has emerged as a potential target as the Tigers continue their search for Ruben Selles' successor.
Riera currently works for Slovenian side NK Celje and Nixon claims City are making a move to lure the 43-year-old to the MKM Stadium. It is thought Riera is eager to manage in England.
NK Celje sit fourth in their division with one match left to play in the regular season. They also reached the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League where they were knocked out on penalties by Fiorentina.
Riera has managed NK Olimpija Ljubljana, Bordeaux and Celje since hanging up his boots. This is Riera's second stint as Celje boss.
City have been without a manager since Selles' departure last week. In an exclusive interview with HullLive today, owner Acun Ilicali said he was hopeful of making an appointment before the end of May. The Turkish businessman played down the prospect of Emre Belozoglu or Michael Beale taking over the reins.
Ilicali said: "We have football minds in the club that will decide about this manager, and I cannot say at the moment to you that this one is like this or this one is like this, but what I can say is that I'm very hopeful to finish the deal in one week.
"Yes (there are other potential candidates), because you only hear about two of our candidates. At the moment, we have five and one of them looks day by day more suitable for our club, but none of you know the name."
