Newcastle United are consistently being linked with a move for Manchester City’s Jack Grealish.
Grealish has struggled for first team minutes at Man City this season and it’s said that Newcastle United are taking note.
Newcastle admire Grealish but surely much will depend on the finances involved. Clearly a talented player, the fact he’s approaching 30 and is paid a huge amount of money at the Etihad Stadium is what complicates matters.
Indeed, Newcastle could have £150million to spend on new signings this summer but the funds still need to be spent correctly.
With that in mind, a recent update in regard to Grealish’s price tag at City is interesting.

How much money Manchester City want for Jack Grealish
According to The Chronicle, Grealish is paid £300k-per-week at City.
It’s said that even if Newcastle were to look at a loan deal for the England international, the Manchester club would still expect them to pay a significant portion of his weekly wage.
In terms of a permanent transfer, it’s claimed that Pep Guardiola’s side would accept between £38-£43million for the forward this summer. Having paid £100million to sign him from Aston Villa, that is a rather steep decline.

It seems no matter what kind of deal they potentially pursue, any move for Grealish would eat up a large portion of Newcastle’s summer transfer budget.

Tottenham and Newcastle ‘battle’ to sign Jack Grealish
Back in April, GIVEMESPORT suggested Tottenham, Villa and Newcastle were all seen as potential destinations for Grealish’s next club.
Given the finances involved, perhaps it’s fair to say Newcastle now look the most unlikely landing spot.
They already have Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes as left wing options, while Joelinton is able to operate there at a push.
Fans do not want Newcastle to sign Grealish and that makes sense. Few would doubt his quality on his day but they have proven few and far between at City in recent seasons, while the money it would take to land him seems huge.
