Report: Liverpool breathe sigh of relief as major transfer update shared on 'Insane' ace

Liverpool are still basking in the glory of their Premier League win after Arne Slot delivered the title back to Anfield at the first time of asking.

Many of the Anfield outfit’s players have had immense seasons, with each member of the squad playing a part in bringing the title back to Merseyside.

But, as with all teams that perform to a high standard, many different clubs are being linked with moves for some of Liverpool’s first-team squad, such as Luis Diaz.

Indeed, Diaz may not have been the most consistent this year, but that still hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from turning.

Barcelona set their sights away from Liverpool’s Luis Diaz

Barcelona have long been linked with Diaz, but after a new admission from the club’s sporting director, Deco, it seems that they’re now turning their attention away from the former FC Porto man and are going to focus on developing what they have available to them.

“We like Luis and [Marcus] Rashford, but they are under contract. More important than external signings is improving what we already have at home,” he said in an interview with El Món a Rac1, as summarised by Barca Universal.

Of course, throughout any fanbase, there will be differing opinions, but on paper, this seems like the best outcome.

However, with clubs in the Saudi Pro League also interested in Diaz, the Reds still face a fight to keep the Colombian on their books over the summer.

Liverpool must try and keep hold of Luis Diaz this summer

Diaz’s ability to dribble past any defender, and the fact that Jurgen Klopp dubbed Diaz’s pace “insane” after their 2022 FA Cup Final win over Chelsea, outline how important he is for the team.

The Colombian has often interchanged with Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez this season, the trio all being used on the left wing or even as the focal point of the Merseyside outfit’s attack.

And, while not all their performances have been impressive, there have been times when they’ve picked up the pieces and turned up for Arne Slot.

The 2025-26 summer transfer window is likely to be a busy one for Liverpool, with Jeremie Frimpong already on his way to Anfield.

So, if they can keep hold of Diaz and perhaps not spend any of their budget replacing him, other areas of the team, such as left-back and attacking midfield, could be targeted.

This, at the end of the day, is exactly what Liverpool need to do, especially if they want to retain the title next season.
