Anthony Edwards, Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves are back in action on Thursday night for Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals, after dropping Game 1 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, a series they entered as sizable underdogs. After Tuesday’s loss, superstar guard Anthony Edwards wasn’t concerned.
Instead, he sounded determined to make a greater impact in Game 2, after newly named 2024-25 NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (and his foul-baiting tactics) dominated the second half on Tuesday. No matter how much of a slop fest SGA made Game 1 though, the Minnesota Timberwolves can only blame themselves for coming up short.
It’s tough to win a basketball game when you shoot just 15-of-51 from deep and allow 31 points on 19 turnovers. Anthony Edwards was largely irrelevant and he addressed that postgame. Ant’s self critique at the podium Tuesday night included one well-placed F-bomb, which he has now been fined for.
This seems rather trivial, but it’s also something that Edwards could certainly avoid if he was sick of paying out a portion of his paychecks. One of the best things about Edwards’ personality is how raw and real he is. That often comes with a level of vulgarity.
Like it it or not, the NBA is never going to let that slide. Unfortunately the same types of mannerisms, or subjective lack of maturity, cost Edwards a game this season due to his technical fouls.

Over the course of the entire season, including the playoffs, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has been fined nine times for $420,000. This season Edwards is making $42,176,400, so that amount isn’t going to move the needle much.
Ultimately I’m sure Edwards would gladly drop another F-bomb and more thousands in exuberance following a Timberwolves win on Thursday night. If they are going to even it up, Edwards will definitely need to take more than “13 f—— shots.”
