Robert Lewandowski will celebrate his 37th birthday this summer but Barcelona don’t appear to be targeting a successor in the summer transfer window.
The Poland international has enjoyed a prolific season, scoring 40 goals in all competitions, and has been ably backed up by Ferran Torres.
Deco has now shared his thoughts on the situation and feels Barcelona have plenty of ways to replace Lewandowski at present and don’t need to “obsess” over finding a successor.
“In the squad we have players capable of playing there such as Ferran Torres, who has had a spectacular season, Dani Olmo, as a false ‘9’, Fermín,” he told RAC1.
“This squad has internal solutions when Lewandowski is not there. Inter have a pure striker like Thuram, PSG don’t have them, Arsenal don’t have them either.
“We should not be obsessed with looking for a ‘9’, today we have one and many solutions.”
Lewandowski is set to stay at Barcelona and see out his contract that runs untjl 2026, but it may well be his final season with the Catalan giants.
