Man United fans react to Ruben Amorim offering to leave after Europa League final defeat,'fantastic'point made

Ruben Amorim will face intense scrutiny over his future after losing the Europa League final to Tottenham.

Manchester United will end the season trophyless, in the bottom half of the Premier League table and with no European football in 2025/26.

A 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final saw United’s season come crashing to a disappointing end.

Ineos made it clear they will back Amorim regardless of the result in Bilbao, but the pressure to perform at the start of next season is now immense.

There will be questions asked of Ruben Amorim’s future throughout the summer, but he has made his stance very clear.

After the full-time whistle in Bilbao, Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw backed Amorim as the “perfect” head coach to bring United back to the top.

However, his inexperience did shine through in the final with Amorim making five mistakes in the final.

While United players and owners are firmly supporting Amorim, it seems the club’s fan base is now entirely split.

Amorim spoke about his future after the final, saying: “If the board or fans feel that I’m not the right guy, I will go the next day without any conversation about compensation.”

United fans flocked to social media to react to his comments, and many agree that Amorim should head for the exit.

One fan wrote: “Pointless statement. Just leave… definitely won’t be missed… worst manager in the club’s history.”

Another pointed out where United were when Amorim took over: “4 points off top 4 when he came, now could potentially finish 17th, I don’t wanna hear it, this never should’ve happened.”

“Get out then. 90 minutes and didn’t try to shake things up once. Never will or be successful here,” one fan argued.

Others saw Amorim’s offer as a “fantastic” opportunity for United to change manager without paying. “That is a fantastic deal, I think it’s worth cutting him if it’s free.”

However, the other half of the United fanbase continue to back Amorim into next season.

“This is why we have to keep him. The only person at this club with any sense of accountability,” one fan said.

Another added: “I’m bewildered by the comments looking for Amorim to be sacked. We have 7/8 players that aren’t Utd quality. The manager isn’t the problem. It’s owners and substandard players.”

One fan pointed out what Amorim had to do at Sporting Lisbon before his success in Portugal. “You guys should look at Amorim record at sporting. He had to let go of almost 25 players to get his players to suit his style of play. So we can’t expect magic with this, guys.”

Ruben Amorim remains confident in Man United project

While Amorim did offer to resign if the board wants him out, he also insists that he will not quit.

It has been a miserable campaign for United, but Amorim knew that taking the job in November would come with huge difficulties.

Amorim warned United that the ‘storm will come’ and his side will have to weather the fallout from the Europa League defeat.

As Amorim points out, United are improving Carrington, will have more time on the training ground next season, and can spend the summer improving the squad.

It is understandable that United fans have reacted angrily to Wednesday’s defeat, but Amorim deserves to have the summer transfer window and a chance to get United ticking next season.
