Ange Postecoglou is likely to make wholesale changes when Tottenham host Brighton in the Premier League.

Spurs have had a miserable Premier League campaign, but supporters won’t care about that one bit anymore after Ange Postecoglou’s side won the UEFA Europa League on Wednesday (21 May).

Tottenham beat Manchester United 1-0 in Bilbao to secure their first trophy in 17 years and completely transform the mood in North London.

The atmosphere will be electric when Postecoglou’s side host Brighton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (25 May), with plenty of changes expected as the Spurs players spend the next few days celebrating their Europa League success and subsequent return to the UEFA Champions League.

However, he is likely to be rested, with Antonín Kinský making a return to the starting line-up against the Seagulls.

There could be three changes in defence, with Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven all likely to be benched, as Kevin Danso, Ben Davies and Djed Spence come in to replace the Spurs trio, while Destiny Udogie retains his spot after playing five passes into the final third and winning four fouls against Manchester United, the most of any player on the pitch.

In midfield, Archie Gray and Pape Sarr might be handed a chance to impress, with Wilson Odobert given another opportunity in the number ten role, in the continued absence of James Maddison.

Tottenham News’ predicted Spurs team to take on Brighton

Solanke dropped for Brighton clash, Son returns

Brennan Johnson is expected to keep his place on the right-hand side after notching the winning goal in the final.

On the left, Son might return in the place of Richarlison after his 23-minute cameo in the Bilbao showcase, in which he completed the only dribble that he attempted for a 100 per cent success rate.

Dominic Solanke has endured an injury-hit maiden campaign in N17 and is predicted to find himself on the bench for the final match as a result, to keep him fresh for the new season.

The England star completed just four of his 11 attempted passes in the final, for a success rate of just 36 per cent, and managed just one touch in the opposition box while also losing 14 duels against United.

Solanke has had a mixed debut campaign at Tottenham

Mathys Tel did not feature on Wednesday so he should be fresh and raring to go, and he is predicted to complete the line-up.

Postecoglou will want to end the season strongly. However, ultimately the result does not matter for the Lilywhites after they won a trophy and ended years of heartbreak.
