Buffalo Bills Three Rookies Share Key College Trait

The Philadelphia Eagles have built a Super Bowl roster by drafting top performers from two of the top schools in the entire country: Georgia and Alabama.

The Buffalo Bills have begun to follow that same mold. Except that instead of taking players from the top two schooled, the organization has chosen to focus their efforts on the entire SEC as a whole.

Of the nine players selected by the Bills in the 2025 draft, four of them came from the SEC. All four picks were taken to begin their draft class as well with an emphasis on defense.

That wasn't by accident either.

Speaking on the team's website following the conclusion of rookie minicamp, Bills second round defensive tackle T.J. Sanders believes that the Bills were right to target the SEC for their defensive retool.

"Playing in the SEC, I definitely feel like it got me prepared to the best of my ability to play where I'm at now, just going against guys," Sanders shared. "I think this year, the SEC led the NFL in draft picks again. So, just knowing that's a whole bunch of guys that I played against over the years. It's good company."

The same goes for the likes of cornerback Maxwell Hairston, edge rusher Landon Jackson, and Kentucky tackle Deone Walker.

If they can all produce early on as SEC players turned NFL stars, the Bills may just have enough on the defensive side of the ball to make their final push to a Super Bowl once and for all.
