Teyana Taylor is pushing back against claims made by her ex-husband, former NBA star Iman Shumpert, who recently filed a motion requesting that she be held in contempt of court—potentially facing jail time—for allegedly violating the terms of their divorce agreement.

Earlier this month, Shumpert filed legal documents accusing Taylor of “willfully and contemptuously” exposing private details of their divorce and violating court orders that protect the privacy, financial, and custodial terms agreed upon during their split. In his petition, Shumpert asked the court to consider criminal contempt charges that could carry up to 20 days in jail for Taylor.

But Taylor isn’t having it.

On May 14, the singer and actress officially responded to the filing, denying all allegations of misconduct. According to court documents obtained by _In Touch_, Taylor refuted Shumpert’s claims that she exposed the terms of their judgment, interfered with his parenting time, or removed their children from school without valid reason.

Taylor also scoffed at Shumpert’s assertion that her actions caused him reputational and financial harm, calling the accusations baseless. “She categorically denies causing any loss of income or damage to his professional reputation,” her legal response states.

Taylor has asked the court to dismiss Shumpert’s petition entirely and urged that she not be found in contempt.

The former couple—once praised for their chemistry both on and off-screen—finalized their divorce under sealed terms, but this recent legal drama suggests tensions remain high. While the court will ultimately decide if Taylor violated any binding orders, she maintains she has acted within her legal rights as a co-parent and public figure.

The next hearing in the case has yet to be scheduled.
