Manchester United have reportedly held talks with Lyon for Rayan Cherki, but their UEFA Europa League final defeat could have consequences.
Cherki gave Ruben Amorim's side a glimpse of his capabilities in their quarter-final meeting, scoring in both legs of the tie. He is set to leave Lyon this summer with a year left on his contract.
The 21-year-old could choose the Premier League as his next destination, with United eyeing him as one of many expected arrivals this summer. Matheus Cunha is close to becoming their first summer signing as the Red Devils embark on a major rebuild after their Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Sky Sports Germany journalist Patrick Berger reports that United representatives spoke to officials from the Ligue 1 club when the two sides met in the Europa League. The Red Devils hold a "strong interest" in the 21-year-old, who is set to leave Groupama Stadium this summer with a year left on his contract.
Borussia Dortmund are also keen on Cherki and can offer him Champions League football next season, unlike United. It's thought that the 1-0 defeat to Spurs "may play a role" in his decision over a switch to Old Trafford. Liverpool aren't in the race as they are focused on signing Bayer Leverkusen attacker Florian Wirtz.
Cherki has been excellent for Lyon this season, thriving in several roles, earning the tag of "one of the most skilful players on earth". This versatility would be of huge use to Amorim. He can play on the right wing, in attacking midfield, as a second striker, and in central midfield.
