Chelsea legend John Terry Brutally Mocks Spurs After Europa League Win

Chelsea icon John Terry has tongue-in-cheek replied to James Maddison’s lighthearted joke after Tottenham Hotspur defeated Manchester United 1-0 in the 2025 UEFA Europa League final. The win marked Spurs’ first major trophy in 17 years, a long dry spell of silverware.

Although he was injured, Maddison participated in the post-match revelries at San Mames Stadium. Imitating Terry’s notorious full-kit turn at Chelsea’s 2012 Champions League party, Maddison swapped suit for Spurs kit to present the trophy. He posted on Instagram, calling the legend out:

“Full @johnterry.26 mode. Anything to say tonight John?”

Terry hilariously responded on Instagram with the post:

“I remember my first trophy. Ah bless them 😂 Get the tequila out 😂 Great season from you boys, you should all be proud! 👀 16 to go… 😂 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆”

He continued:

“After that display I think you have a chance. You just need to live for 900 years 😂”

Later, he posted another Instagram Story that showed off his vast trophy cabinet, ranging from Premier League wins to a Champions League medal. Tottenham’s Europa League win was courtesy of Brennan Johnson’s first-half strike. It sealed an end to a prolonged streak of trophy defeats and reserved their qualification for the Champions League in the next season.

When Chelsea won the Europa League – Baku, 2019

Chelsea won their second UEFA Europa League title on 29 May 2019 as they beat Arsenal 4-1 at Azerbaijan’s Olympic Stadium in Baku. The first half was a half where both of the London teams tested each other’s rears without testing the goal net.

The Blues regained strength at halftime. Olivier Giroud broke the deadlock with a diving header in the 49th minute from Emerson Palmieri’s pass. Pedro doubled their score in the 60th minute from Eden Hazard’s pass.

Hazard himself converted a penalty five minutes later after Ainsley Maitland-Niles fouled Giroud. When Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi scored a miraculous volley equalizer in the 69th minute, Hazard reacted instantly and scored his second goal to seal the 4-1 victory.
