Dancing on Ice star Colin Grafton is rumoured to have a new partner after it was claimed he’s “casually dating” former NFL star Michael Sam.
A trusted source told PinkNews that the pair met in September last year following Sam messaging Grafton on social media.
The source said: “They aren’t official, but they are rumoured to be casually dating and are enjoying their time together.”
A look at Grafton’s Instagram shows that he was away in September last year in Barcelona, Spain, which the source said was a gift from Sam to Grafton.
“Despite being very casual, Michael is coming to Japan to visit Colin while at work,” the source added.
Sam has been open about the fact he didn’t feel supported by the NFL after he made history as the first openly gay athlete to be drafted by a team in 2014, while Gratfon came out publicly in an interview with PinkNews last year.
The US figure skater spoke to PinkNews in April, sharing the perils of gay dating and his desire to find someone to share his future with.
He even shared an insight into his dream date: “A picnic in the park, finger-food and a nice bottle of wine, and getting to know each other on a one-on-one basis. Something simple like that, where we could have a more intimate space. The restaurants can come after.”
Grafton made history during his debut season of Dancing on Ice in 2023, by partnering with RuPaul’s Drag Race star The Vivienne, the first drag artist to take part in the show. They reached the final, finishing third. The Vivienne tragically died in January 2025.
