Three players Newcastle should blow their budget on if they qualify for the Champions League -…

Newcastle United could be a Champions League club once again by the time the weekend is over.

The equation is simple for Newcastle United. Beat Everton on Sunday and they will guarantee a return to the Champions League.

While that’s easier said than done of course, Eddie Howe will surely feel confident. They host Everton at St James’ Park, where Newcastle have generally impressed this season.

Should they win, attention will turn to the summer transfer window. It’s been claimed that Newcastle could have £150million to spend this summer, which would be a major boost for Howe.

The Newcastle United manager hasn’t seen his squad strengthened to any meaningful degree since the summer of 2023. Newcastle want to sign three first-team players this summer, so here’s a look at who they could be.

Liam Delap looks an interesting potential addition.

Newcastle think Delap could play alongside Alexander Isak, which certainly looks an exciting partnership on paper.

Isak is able to operate on the left, as well as up front. With European football bringing more games to the calendar, the duo could feasibly take turns leading the line at times too.

Delap wants Champions League football at his next club and Newcastle are just one victory away from being able to offer him that.

Having scored 12 Premier League goals for a poor Ipswich side this season, it’s easy to see why the club are reportedly keen.

Jacob Murphy has been one of Newcastle’s best players this season but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t look to strengthen their options on the right wing. Enter, Bryan Mbeumo.

Newcastle want to sign Mbeumo this summer, having been linked with the Brentford forward for a while. Newcastle sold Miguel Almiron in January, meaning Murphy does not have any cover or competition. The prolific Mbeumo would be a statement signing on that front. Having him and Murphy in the squad to compete for a starting berth over a busier campaign would be a major boost.

The Cameroon international has scored 19 Premier League goals this season while not playing as a central striker. The idea of him lining up alongside Isak and Anthony Gordon or Harvey Barnes is seriously exciting.

Mbeumo has been linked with other clubs too but Champions League qualification would surely strengthen Newcastle’s hand.

Marc Guehi has been linked with Newcastle for almost a year now.

Guehi is expected to leave Crystal Palace despite their FA Cup win and it seems the interest from St James’ Park remains.

Newcastle are still interested in Guehi, who has enjoyed another brilliant campaign at Selhurst Park and will be out of contract in the summer of 2026.

With both Fabian Schar and Dan Burn over 30, and Sven Botman continuing to struggle with injury, the interest in Guehi makes sense.

Newcastle bid big money for Guehi last summer, so it would be a surprise not to see them at least test the waters.

Clearly someone whom the recruitment staff rate, the 24-year-old England international could feasibly be Newcastle’s starting centre-back for years to come.
