Anthony Gordon is still on Arne Slot’s radar at Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The 24-year-old came close to a move to Anfield last summer and told friends at the time that he was “very keen” on the switch.
Sources say Gordon is still open to a move to Liverpool despite having signed a new long-term contract at Newcastle in October to extend his stay until 2030.
Newcastle are reluctant to sell their star players this summer, but privately value the England international at around £100million.
Liverpool, meanwhile, could sign a versatile forward who can play in multiple positions if they are unable to sign the centre-forward they want this summer.
Alexander Isak remains their number-one target for the position, but Football Insider revealed on 16 May that Newcastle are trying to price Isak out of a move.

Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins is also on their radar as a potential alternative to Isak, and could be allowed to leave as Unai Emery plans to reshape his first-team squad.

Newcastle respond to Anthony Gordon interest from Liverpool
Football Insider revealed on 18 May that Newcastle will demand “big money” for Gordon amid renewed interest from both Arsenal and Liverpool.
Their new asking price of around £100million is unlikely to inspire any new interest, but would be affordable if the Reds decide to revisit the deal.
However, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Newcastle could be open to Gordon’s exit as Liverpool continue to watch on.
The Magpies’ financial situation remains unclear as they head into the summer transfer window, and the winger is viewed as an option if they are forced to move players on.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed in October that Newcastle have reached a verbal agreement with Gordon that he would could consider his options if they miss out on Champions League football.

Rayan Cherki transfer update emerges at Anfield
Gordon is not the only wide player on Liverpool’s radar this summer, as Lyon forward Rayan Cherki has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield.
However, Football Insider revealed on 20 May that Liverpool will have to sell a forward before they consider a deal for the 21-year-old.
Cherki and Lyon have both confirmed that the winger will leave the club this summer, sparking interest from top clubs across the continent.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider Man United were alerted to Cherki’s availability following their Europa League clash with the French side.
