'I actually think': Kevin De Bruyne picks who he'd rather have in his dream team - Erling…

Kevin De Bruyne has played with some special players during his time at Manchester City.

From Vincent Kompany at the back to David Silva in midfield, the Belgian has been surrounded by world-class talent throughout the ten years he has spent at the Etihad Stadium.

Knowing this, Man City have asked the 33-year-old to pick his best 11 from the teammates he had in Manchester, which left the superstar with some tough decisions to make, such as Rodri over Fernandinho and Raheem Sterling over Riyad Mahrez.

For De Bruyne, the most important position for him has been the striker in front, as that person is the one finishing off the chances he creates.

Erling Haaland and Sergio Aguero are the two standouts the Belgian has played with during his time at the Etihad Stadium, and the 33-year-old has shared why he thinks the Norwegian will go on to do better things than the Argentine legend.

Kevin De Bruyne picks Erling Haaland over Sergio Aguero

Ally McCoist is one man who believes Aguero was a better player than Haaland is at present, but having played with both strikers, De Bruyne has gone with the Norway international.

“Erling is just a machine. When he sees the goal, it is a different kind of person. I’ll probably go, Erling, also for what I think will come,” De Bruyne told Man City’s YouTube channel when picking his best 11.

“While doing no disservice to Kun, because I actually think we had a really good connection also, but I’ve had it with Erling also.”

Haaland has been a superstar since arriving in Manchester in 2022, but the current campaign has not been the best for the 24-year-old, with the Man City star recently receiving criticism from Alan Shearer for shying away from the penalty in the FA Cup final.

As for De Bruyne, the Man City captain looks like he could be heading to Chicago Fire, and it is fair to say the Belgian will not have the quality of Haaland and Aguero to finish off his chances should he move to MLS.

Erling Haaland is chasing Sergio Aguero’s Man City record

Haaland recently hinted at staying at Man City for a long time, and if that proves to be the case, the Norwegian will have an eye on Aguero’s all-time goalscorer record at the Manchester club.

The Argentine sits top of the list with 260 goals, with the Norwegian striker 140 behind him, having played 249 games fewer.

Player Games Goals

Sergio Aguero 390 260

Joe Hayes 339 146

Francis Lee 308 138

Colin Bell 457 137

Raheem Sterling 339 131

Erling Haaland 141 120

Man City’s all-time leading goalscorers

Haaland’s goalscoring rate has been scary since he arrived in Manchester, and that is not expected to stop next season.

The 24-year-old is on course to become one of the Premier League’s greatest ever strikers, and only time will tell if he surpasses the achievements of Aguero.
