Real Madrid transfers: Chelsea's world record transfer admires Xabi Alonso's team and may not cost much: Report

Enzo Fernandez has often got to wear the captain's armband at Chelsea in Reece James' absence. However, fans of the London club fear Real Madrid could snatch the World Cup winner from them—just as they did with Antonio Rudiger in 2022.

The midfielder, who became the most expensive player in Premier League history after being signed by Chelsea for a whopping £106.8 million from Benfica on deadline day of the 2023 January transfer window, has another seven years left on his current contract.  The Eagles had attached an €120 million release clause to his contract which Chelsea triggered to complete the deal. In the process, Manchester City's fabled Jack Grealish transfer saga became part of history.

The former River Plate star has gradually established himself in the Premier League after a rather low-key start. The 24-year-old managed six goals and seven assists from 35 games this season as the Blues have almost secured a European berth. This fine run has, however, resulted in Enzo garnering some unwanted attention.

Real Madrid, who are in the process of a massive rebuilding ahead of Xabi Alonso's arrival, is impressed by the Argentine and is said to be tracking his situation. They are in the process of building another set of 'Galacticos' who are young and agile.

Whle Enzo has so far shown no signs of unsettlement at Stamford Bridge, fans are afraid that he might get thrilled if the La Lia giants come knocking. The midfielder is reportedly an admirer of the Los Blancos and may consider making a move, many think. The Argentine had recently revealed that almost always uses Real Madrid as his side while spending time on EA FC, which many see as another sign of his liking for the 15-time European champions.

Although Chelsea spent a humongous sum on him, it is not clear whether a potential buyer will have to shell out a similar amount to secure the right-footed star's signature. Since it was a strangely long nine-year deal that he had inked,  it is plausible that Chelsea opted not to include a release clause in the deal.
