Barcelona legend Lionel Messi has [chosen the favorite goal of his career](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2023/11/2/23942691/lionel-messi-picks-his-favourite-goal-and-barcelona-fans-will-love-his-choice) which is set to be turned into a work of art as part of a charity project.
Messi was absolutely spoilt for choice but ended up going with his header for Barcelona against Manchester United in the 2009 Champions League final.
“I had many goals that are perhaps even more beautiful and of enormous value, also because of their importance, but the header in the Champions League final against Manchester United was always my favorite,” he said in a statement.
Messi’s decision comes as of the “A Goal in Life” charity campaign and will see Refik Anadol now create a work of art.
“I already knew how special Refik’s works are,” he added. “We were able to meet in Miami, and it will be exciting to discover how he can transform a goal, a moment in sports, into a unique piece of art like the ones he creates.”
The artwork will be revealed on June 11 in New York at Christie’s auction house, signed by Messi and then auctioned off with proceeds going to charity.
