Alabama basketball 2025 offseason transfer portal, NBA draft roster tracker

Alabama basketball's offseason is now in full swing.

The NCAA transfer portal opened March 24 for undergraduates, and remained open through April 22. Last offseason, Alabama had six players enter the transfer portal after five players entered each of the prior two offseasons.

For players with remaining eligibility, decisions about the NBA draft will also need to be made. Any player can apply for an NBA Undergraduate Advisory Committee evaluation, and can enter the 2025 NBA draft pool while hiring an NCAA-certified agent. The deadline to enter the draft was April 26, and the NCAA's deadline to withdraw from the draft and return to school is May 28.

Alabama has 'essentially a GM' managing the transfer portal during NCAA tournament

This will also be a broader offseason of transition in college sports, with the House vs. NCAA class-action settlement expected to be finalized soon. That will allow schools by July to distribute about $20 million in department revenue this upcoming year to players, although the majority is expected to be paid to football players. The House settlement will also create a new enforcement entity to more closely police NIL deals that have been the main vehicle for schools to pay players in recent years.

The House settlement will also eliminate the 13-scholarship cap for men's basketball and instead implement a 15-player roster limit regardless of scholarship status, although the SEC could temporarily implement its own 13-scholarship limit for its teams.
