Adelman stepped into the role after head coach Michael Malone departed and quickly earned the organization’s trust.
He went 3-0 to close the regular season and guided the team to a playoff series win, taking the Nuggets within one game of the Western Conference Finals.
Denver was reportedly impressed with Adelman’s poise, leadership, and ability to maximize the roster in a high-pressure situation.
“Sources said the Nuggets were impressed with Adelman's work as interim coach and moved forward swiftly with him as the full-time coach,” Charania reported.
Adelman, who has served as an assistant in Denver since 2017, now gets the opportunity to lead a championship-caliber squad featuring MVP-caliber talent in Nikola Jokic.
