The Denver Nuggets [have announced](https://x.com/nuggets/status/1925629674090070205) via social media that they have removed the interim tag from David Adelman’s title and hired him as head coach.
Adelman was made interim coach after Michael Malone was fired with the just three games left in the regular season. Under Adelman, the Nuggets won all three of their last regular season games, and defeated the Los Angeles Clippers in seven games in the first round of the playoffs. Denver then lost in seven games to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference semifinals.
Financial terms or length of the new contract have not yet been announced.
David Adelman is the son of former Portland Trail Blazers player and coach Rick Adelman. The senior Adelman played three seasons in Portland between 1970 and 1973, worked as an assistant coach with the Blazers for six season starting in 1983, and served as head coach from 1989 until the end of the 1993-94 season. Rick Adelman led the Blazers to two Western Conference Championships (1989-90, 1991-92).
