Once again, multiple teams failed in their attempt to get the Philadelphia Eagles’ infamous ‘tush push’ play banned.
They fell two votes shy of the 24 they needed to ban the play, and as a result, Nick Sirianni’s team will be able to continue running it.
That’s not what Ben Johnson wanted to hear.
When asked about the play, the former offensive coordinator claimed that he didn’t like it because he liked explosive plays, and that play has never led to a big gain.
“Man, I’ll tell you what, have you ever seen a tush-push become an explosive play? I like explosive plays. I like big plays. So, I’m not a big tush push guy myself,” Johnson said.
Bears HC Ben Johnson HATES the tush-push play:

That’s exactly what you want to hear if you’re a Chicago Bears fan.
While all teams will just have to figure out the best way to counter the tush push, whoever comes across the Bears will also have their work cut out for them.
Johnson was one of the most creative offensive minds in the game during his time with the Detroit Lions, which helped him become the most sought-after head coaching candidate in this hiring cycle.
The Bears went to great lengths to bolster their subpar offensive line, and they already had plenty of talent on their offense.
Caleb Williams showed glimpses of great potential as a rookie, but the team never put him in a position to succeed with their offensive playcalling and scheming.
Now, they will have an up-and-coming and aggressive head coach building a modern offense around a potentially generational quarterback with plenty of help by his side, and that should be a scary thought for the rest of the league.
