Both sides had chances to take the lead as the game approached the final ten minutes, with Kerolin in particular going close to putting City in front.
But it was Bayern who would come out on top, with Julia Zigiotti Olme putting them back in front with a stunning long-range effort after City had lost possession from a throw-in.

And with the Blues pushing forward in the hope of forcing extra time, the Germans pounced again when Maria Plattner squeezed an effort under Khiara Keating.
It means City’s 100% record at the World Sevens is over, but our place in the last four is assured.
