On Wednesday, Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was named the MVP of the 2024-25 NBA season after what was a terrific regular season from both a team and an individual aspect for Alexander. And just one day later, Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt decided to gift Alexander with perhaps an even more illustrious honor.
In a post on X on Thursday, Holt wanted to further commemorate Alexander’s accomplishment, doing so by giving the Thunder star his own day, signing a document that hereby declares that May 22nd would be “Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Day”.
“On behalf of the people of Oklahoma City, I congratulate our very own Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for being named the Most Valuable Player of the National Basketball Association!” wrote Holt in a post on X.

It’s hard to argue that Alexander doesn’t deserve all of the accolades that have come his way. Especially when you consider the fact that the Thunder find themselves in a position to make it to the NBA Finals for the first time since the 2011-12 NBA season.
