Ruben Amorim learns how much he can spend in this summer’s transfer window

Manager Ruben Amorim’s first season in charge of Manchester United has been disappointing.

United have recorded just six Premier League wins under him. They could finish 17th in the standings if they lose to Champions League hopefuls Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday.

They were also beaten in the Europa League final by Tottenham Hotspur, meaning the Red Devils will miss out on European competition next season for the first time since the 2014/15 campaign.

Despite their struggles, United are not planning to sack Amorim and are prepared to back him in the summer transfer window.

The Portuguese tactician will have ‘a little less than £100 million’ to spend on signing new players, according to the Guardian.

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha and Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap are United’s primary targets for the number ten and centre-forward positions, respectively.

The Mancunian giants are reportedly set to complete the signing of Cunha this weekend.

While Cunha’s arrival appears imminent, signing Delap may prove more difficult, as the England youth international is also on the radar of Chelsea and Newcastle United.

United have already held face-to-face talks with Delap and hope to beat their rivals to his signature.

The club do not need to sell players to complete the signings of Delap and Cunha, thanks to the cost-cutting measures introduced by minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

However, additional signings may require player sales. United have already prioritised the sales of forwards Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho.

The club are also reportedly open to offers for academy graduate Alejandro Garnacho, who raised doubts about his future following the defeat to Tottenham.

Striker Rasmus Hojlund could also be sold. Italian side Inter Milan are exploring a deal for the Denmark international.
