Manchester United's loss in the Europa League final won't deter their bid to land Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha, Fabrizio Romano has told GIVEMESPORT's 'Market Madness' podcast - with the Red Devils already telling the Brazil star that they are prepared to trigger his release clause ahead of a summer move.
Despondency has set in at Old Trafford after their loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final, with the defeat in Bilbao meaning that the Red Devils won't feature in European competition next season, missing out on a continental spot for just the second time since 1990. Not only that, but their domestic form has seen them finish in the bottom half of the Premier League table, and it's been their worst campaign in terms of a league finish in over 40 years.
Romano: Man Utd Have Told Cunha They Are 'Prepared to Trigger Clause'
The Red Devils have struggled this season and Cunha could turn their form around

There is a silver lining though, and that comes in the form of Cunha. The Brazil international is expected to move to Old Trafford from Wolves at the end of the season, with his £62.5million release clause able to be activated, and the Red Devils are looking to get a deal over the line for the forward in the coming weeks to add to their squad, which is in dire need of creativity.

And Romano has revealed on GIVEMESPORT's 'Market Madness' podcast that Ruben Amorim and United chiefs have already told Cunha that they are prepared to trigger his release clause, and there will be no issues in that sense - with Cunha wanting the move regardless of the loss to Ange Postecoglou's side on Wednesday. Romano said:
"Manchester United already told Matheus Cunha that they are prepared to trigger the clause, so there will be no issues. And so, I think it's going to be the first signing of the summer for United.
"It's important to say that the player wanted this move regardless of Champions League football or not, regardless of what happened on Wednesday in the Europa League final.
"Cunha wants to play for Manchester United, and my understanding is that he will play for Manchester United."
Cunha has been Wolves' best player this season, scoring 15 goals and registering six assists in just 32 games for the Molineux outfit in the Premier League, despite missing five games through suspension.
His run of form in the first half of the campaign almost single-handedly kept Wolves above the water in the relegation battle, before a superb run of form under Vitor Pereira saw them win eight of their 11 games in the table from February through to May.
