Darrion Williams, a 6-foot-6, 225-pound, 22-year-old former Texas Tech small forward, who withdrew from the 2025 NBA Draft this week, has decided to transfer to North Carolina State, he announced on his social media X account Thursday.
Williams, a first-team all-Big 12 selection, chose the Wolfpack over KU, Ohio State, BYU and a return to Texas Tech. He visited KU this past week.
Meanwhile, Dame Sarr, a 6-foot-7 wing from Italy who also recently visited KU’s campus, on Thursday committed to Duke.
Williams dropped out of the draft after scoring a combined two points in a pair of 5-on-5 scrimmages at the NBA Combine. Williams averaged 15.1 points a game at Tech a year ago. Williams scored 14 points on 4-of-10 shooting (2-of-6 from 3 and 4-of-4 from the line) with nine rebounds and four assists in a 78-73 win over KU on March 1 at Allen Fieldhouse.
Sarr emerged as a top recruit after scoring 17 points at the recent Nike Hoop Summit game in Portland, Oregon.
KU currently has three scholarships available in recruiting.
Players returning from the 2024-25 roster are Flory Bidunga, Elmarko Jackson, Jamari McDowell and Noah Shelby. Incoming freshmen are: Darryn Peterson, Bryson Tiller, Samis Calderon and Corbin Allen. Incoming transfer portal players are: Tre White (Illinois), Jayden Dawson (Loyola) and Melvin Council Jr. (St. Bonaventure).
Also, incoming freshman football wide receiver Jaden Nickens is planning on being a two-sport athlete at KU. If he does join the KU hoops roster it is believed he would count against the limit of 14 players.
