It was a tale of two halves for the Timberwolves in Game 1, with the first half highlighted by solid 3-point results (10-of-28) and a stifling defense that held the usually prolific Thunder to just 44 points. Then, the second half changed fortunes, as the Wolves went ice-cold from the 3-point line (5-for-23) and allowed the Thunder to shoot 61.9% from the field en route to a 70-point half. Julius Randle led the team with 28 points and eight assists, while Anthony Edwards fought through a twisted ankle to score 18 with nine rebounds.
Although it took some time to get going, the Thunder reminded everyone how they earned the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, running roughshod through the Wolves in a dominant second half. MVP frontrunner Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 31 points with nine assists and three steals for the game, with 20 of those points coming after the half. He also put together a team-best plus-25 in the second half, as the Thunder outscored the Wolves 70-40.
