The New York Knicks choked away their late game lead against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night as Tyrese Haliburton forced overtime on a late game shot from the top of the key.
A video replay showed Haliburton's toe was on the line, giving the Knicks new life in overtime before coach Tom Thibodeau's team fell 138-135 to the Pacers at home.
Following the game, video footage surfaced of a loud and boisterous contingent of New York fans chanting outside of Madison Square Garden, reacting to live streams on their cell phones.
The fans began chanting words in unison that seemed smart at the time but were later cause for a backlash on social media.

"Knicks in 4!" fans began chanting during the late stages of Wednesday's game as they appeared to celebrate their team's win prematurely.
"Knicks fans were chanting 'Knicks in 4' in the final minutes of regulation, when victory looked assured," reporter Chris Vannini wrote on X.
"It will not be Knicks in 4."
Over 151 reactions were recorded as of Thursday night as Knicks fans faced the music on X.
"So satisfying to watch this and know all these people are pissed today," another fan said.
"They chanted too early and the universe heard," another said with a 'skull' emoji.
"Knicks getting swept," another said.
"We need an update Chris," another added.
"Front running comes natural to Knicks fans," still another said.
New York has a chance to right the ship against the Pacers on Friday at 8 p.m. ET at the Garden in NYC.
