Why Saquon Is Right About Eagles All-Time Rank

Were the 2024 Philadelphia Eagles one of the greatest teams in NFL history after their historic run through Super Bowl LIX? That is the argument being made by All-Pro running back Saquon Barkley.

Speaking on the "Exciting Mics" podcast with Reed Blankenship and Cooper DeJean, two teammates of Barkley's, the veteran running back made it clear that the team had as much of a claim to the top spot as any other all-time great roster.

"I firmly believe when you look at our team that we had last year.. I think we were a Top 5 team of all time," Barkley said. "We started off 2-2, and lost to Washington when Jalen got hurt.. But if you really look at the season outside of the first 4 games, it was belt to (expletive)."

Philadelphia ended up with a record-tying 18 wins on the season. The 1984 San Francisco 49ers, 1985 Chicago Bears, and 2007 New England Patriots are the only other teams to have reached that mark.

With a defense that was the best in the league, an offense that was dominant in the running attack, and a coaching staff that seemed to get better as the season cotninued, it's clear Barkley's case is more than fair.

Setting an NFL record for the most combined points in a conference title game and Super Bowl since the 1970 merger (95 in total), the Eagles were in a class of their own all season.

And it's time to put them in an all-time list as well.
