You’re usually a good player if you start in the NFL for ten years. Grady Jarrett has reached that threshold. In that time, he’s seen plenty of different faces in the locker room. That doesn’t just go for fellow players either. He’s seen his fair share of coaches, too. His career started under Dan Quinn in Atlanta, who is considered one of the top defensive minds in the league. Jarrett also got to play for the great Dean Pees for two years in 2021 and 2022. The defensive tackle knows what the good ones look like.
That experience gave him a trained eye. It didn’t take him long to realize that the new defensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears, Dennis Allen, is a special breed. His blend of accountability and attention to detail makes him something Jarrett hasn’t seen much of in his career.
"What is refreshing is working with a coach that has such a high standard for what he expects … I can't wait to see where it takes us."

This feeds into the buzz that has steadily built since Allen arrived. While his reputation as a head coach is rough, he’s considered a top-tier defensive coordinator.
Grady Jarrett may see a career resurgence under Allen.
One thing about this defense is that it finds ways to get production from interior pass rushers. Sheldon Rankins nabbed eight sacks in a season at one point for the New Orleans Saints. David Onyemota produced at least five in two of his last three seasons with Allen. Lastly, there was Bryan Bresee, who had 7.5 sacks last season. If Grady Jarrett has anything left in the tank, this coach will get it from him. The two-time Pro Bowler was still effective last season, but only managed two sacks. It was partly why Atlanta chose to let him go. Chicago felt he still had something to offer on and off the field. The best part is he won’t have to carry the load alone. Gervon Dexter and rookie Shemar Turner should help ease his burden.
