They can no longer qualify for Europe but they will hope to seal a top ten finish by beating the Foxes and hoping results elsewhere go their way.
The Daily Echo previews the final match of the 2024/25 season.
**Team News**
Andoni Iraola has a number of absentees meaning he will have a slightly thin squad to choose from.
Enes Unal and Ryan Christie are out as they continue their recoveries from surgery, while Luis Sinisterra will also miss out, Iraola confirmed last week.
Alex Scott is unlikely to be involved after a surgery on a jaw fracture, and while the boss did not want to rule the Englishman out for certain, he said it would be unlikely that Scott would feature.
_(Image: Mike Egerton/PA Wire)_ Dango Ouattara is also likely to miss out, while Lewis Cook is suspended after his red card against Manchester City.
James Hill missed the trip to City with some knee issues, but Iraola was hopeful that they would not rule him out of Sunday's game.
Ruud van Nistelrooy will be without Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Mads Hermansen, Abdul Fatawu, Stephy Mavididi and Harry Winks, while Jamie Vardy made his final appearance for the club last weekend as the Foxes beat Ipswich.
**Head-to-Head**
The Foxes have a slightly better historic record over the Cherries, winning 10 of the 23 meetings between the two sides, to Bournemouth’s eight.
They have won the last two, including the most recent game between the two sides at Dean Court.
_(Image: Mike Egerton/PA Wire)_ That came in the FA Cup in February 2024 as Leicester beat their hosts 1-0 after extra time, Fatawu sending the Foxes through in the fifth round game.
Earlier this season in October, the Cherries’ hosts at the King Power Stadium won by the same scoreline in the cup, Facundo Buonanotte striking after 16 minutes.
The Cherries were on top in the second half but weren’t able to find the breakthrough, Evanilson seeing a goal disallowed, as they were beaten.
**Last Time Out**
Bournemouth fell to defeat on Tuesday night at the Etihad Stadium, as they were beaten 3-1 by Manchester City in a comfortable victory for their hosts.
That followed a defeat to Aston Villa at home, as the Cherries hopes to qualify for Europe were ended.
_(Image: Mike Egerton/PA Wire)_ But they will be hopeful of securing a top ten finish – they’ll need to hope Brentford lose to Wolves or Fulham lose to City, or both, as well as Bournemouth finishing with a win.
Any points picked up by Iraola’s side will see them extend their points record, too, so they will be keen to finish strong.
Leicester, meanwhile, are already relegated.
The Foxes are unbeaten in three games, beating Southampton and Ipswich, both of whom are also down, and drawing with Nottingham Forest in between those two games.
Van Nistelrooy’s side will finish 18th if they pick up any points in Dorset, but if they lose, they will have to hope that Ipswich do not beat West Ham to secure that spot in the table.
AFC Bournemouth host Leicester City at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday, May 25, kick off at 4pm.
