Newcastle United have received an injury boost ahead of their final game of the season against Everton.
The Magpies welcome David Moyes’ side to St James’ Park in the knowledge that three points will result in Champions League qualification.
It is going to be a tense afternoon on Tyneside, with Gary Neville predicting a Newcastle win.
Eddie Howe has injury issues ahead of the game. It has been reported that Alexander Isak has a 50/50 chance of playing, having missed the Arsenal defeat with a groin issue.
While Isak’s status ahead of Sunday is not certain, one player has been spotted back at the Newcastle United training ground.
Defender returns to Newcastle United training after injury
Ahead of Sunday’s game against Everton, the Magpies have shared a selection of photos from Wednesday’s training session on their official website.
In one of the photos, Matt Targett can be seen in the blue boots challenging Emil Krafth for the ball.

The £15million defender also posted a photo of himself on his Instagram story, alongside the words: “One last push.”
There had been fears that his season was over, with Targett suffering a hamstring injury at the end of April.
While Targett is involved, the likes of Kieran Trippier, Alexander Isak and Joelinton were not spotted in the photos posted from Wednesday’s training session.
Matt Targett’s last Newcastle United start
It has been another injury-ridden season for Targett.
The 29-year-old has only made five senior appearances, including two cameos off the bench in the Premier League.
His only two starts have come in FA Cup wins over Bromley and Birmingham City, while his last Premier League appearance was an eight-minute outing during the 4-1 loss against Aston Villa.
Interestingly, his only two Premier League appearances have been against his former club.
The last time Targett started a Premier League game was September 2023, and his future is very much up in the air heading into the summer transfer window.
