The dominoes could soon fall as Wolves eye a West Ham striker target.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly stepping up their interest in Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Old Gold are eager to add depth and quality at centre-forward as Jorgen Strand Larsen has been relied upon heavily. Although Strand Larsen has done a superb job, Wolves have looked rather light up front when he’s been absent through injury, so signing an alternative is necessary.
Alberto, once an appearance maker for the senior Brazil national team, has been developing nicely in the Brazilian top tier throughout the past few years. The centre-forward scored 15 goals and made five assists in 29 Brazilian Serie A appearances throughout 2024, adding a further nine goals and two assists in 10 Copa Sudamericana matches.
It’s been a decent start to the current year, too, as Alberto has netted 13 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions. The 24-year-old hadn’t scored in the Copa Libertadores for Corinthians before 2025 but he’s ended that run, with two goals in four outings in the famous South American competition.
Alberto may not be playing for Corinthians for much longer, though, as reports are emerging that Wolves are eager to reignite their interest and sign him this summer. Brazilian publication Sobre Corinthians reports a bid is expected for Alberto in the transfer window, with Corinthians waiting for an offer of around €30 million (£25.2m).
Wolves may not be on their own, however, as West Ham United have been linked with Alberto in recent months. According to Caught Offside, the Hammers agreed personal terms with the striker last month. Later reports contradicted this fact, but there’s no doubting there’s strong interest from Graham Potter’s side.
Big summer ahead for Wolves
Having clinched Premier League survival and moved up the standings since, Wolves can look ahead to next season without guilt. Pereira had the winter window to sign the likes of Emmanuel Agbadou, Marshall Munetsi and Nasser Djiga, but he’s yet to have a full summer to properly make his mark on the squad.
The 56-year-old head coach is expected to hold talks over extending his Wolves contract and he’s bound to be backed by the board in the transfer market as a result. He could have money to spend, too, as Matheus Cunha is likely to see his £62.5 million release clause activated, in turn bolstering the budget available.
Some of that cash could be spent on Alberto if he’s willing to join, though the priority is likely to be signing a direct replacement for Cunha in the attacking midfield position. Pereira is also understood to want to bolster the depth in defence due to his tendency to play a back three.
Quite a squad overhaul could take place this summer despite Wolves’ recent resurgence. It’s the first summer for Pereira to get fully involved in transfer business, after all, with the Portuguese manager eager to guide the Old Gold to bigger and better things after a strong start.
