Ruben Amorim is unlikely to be sacked as Man United manager in the near future despite their Europa League final defeat to Tottenham.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about Amorim’s future.

The boss is expected to come under pressure at the beginning of next season if results do not improve after he is backed in the transfer window.

That is despite Amorim’s admission immeduately after the match that he would walk away without a pay-off if the club didn’t want him.

However, sources say the hierarchy remain firmly behind the manager.

This comes after Football Insider revealed Amorim is expected to be Man United manager at the start of next season regardless of the outcome of the final.

Man United make Ruben Amorim sack decision

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 22 May that Amorim must take the blame for United’s struggles as pressure continues to rise.

Concerns have emerged throughout the manager’s tenure about the style of play and his failure to alter his plans to suit the players in his squad.

However, O’Rourke explained that the manager has retained the backing of the Man United board and will be judged after he is able to bring in his own players.

“I fully expect Ruben Amorim to remain as Man United manager next season,” he told Football Insider.

“After the match, he came out and said he would consider walking away if the club didn’t want him.

“I don’t think that’s the case just yet.

“He still has the backing of the Man United board for now and obviously he will get the summer window to try and bring in some of his own players.

“He will be under pressure if things don’t start well for next season, there’s no doubt about that.

“He’s got the worst numbers in Man United history and he’s not been shy in admitting that.

“He’s not been able to get massive improvement out of the team, but I don’t think we can judge him yet.

“I don’t think they’ll want to get rid of him just yet.”

Rasmus Hojlund to leave Old Trafford amid Juventus interest

Amorim is not the only one facing questions about his long-term future at Old Trafford, with a number of first-team stars also potentially on the chopping block.

Brown told Football Insider on 22 May that United are planning to sell Rasmus Hojlund in an attempt to raise funds in the transfer window.

However, they will aim to recoup a significant proportion of the £72million spent to sign him from Atalanta in 2023, with their price set at £50million.

Brown told Football Insider on 17 April that Juventus are among a number of Italian clubs watching Hojlund as United are expected to cut their losses.
