Ruben Amorim has now seen two of his Manchester United players land in the UEFA Europa League Team of the Season after the final against Tottenham.
The Red Devils fell short of the final hurdle in UEFA’s second-tier club competition and Manchester United walked away from the Europa League final empty-handed.
United met Tottenham in the Europa League final at the San Mames Stadium and the Red Devils fell to a 1-0 loss to Premier League rivals Spurs on Wednesday.
Brennan Johnson was the difference-maker in the first half for Tottenham in the encounter against United in Bilbao and the Red Devils were unable to rally back.
Ruben Amorim watched on from his spot in the technical dugout at the San Mames Stadium as Tottenham sealed major silverware ahead of United this season.
The 40-year-old United manager has overseen a difficult period at Old Trafford since his arrival from Sporting CP in 2024 and the Red Devils have had a disastrous campaign.
United will be without any European football for the 2025-26 season and Tottenham ensured their place back in the Champions League for the following campaign.

Ruben Amorim sends a clear-cut message about Man Utd after the 2025 Europa League final defeat to Tottenham in Bilbao
Speaking after the scoreline at the San Mames Stadium, Ruben Amorim admitted that United will now “suffer” after failing to secure Champions League qualification.
“It’s hard to talk about positives today, but we need to take advantage of everything,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“We are going to suffer because we don’t have [the] Champions League and it’s hard on the club, but on the other side, we will have more time to develop the team, to pay attention to our academy and to prepare for the future.
“That is clear. We need to use every minute to improve the team and we always have plans to go to the summer.”
United are now back in action on Sunday evening for their final Premier League match of the 2024-25 campaign against Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
