'Dangerous': Paul Merson shares shock Newcastle United vs Everton prediction after major news…

The final game of the Premier League campaign is now just days away for Everton as they prepare for their trip to Tyneside.

David Moyes will be taking his side on the road for a clash against the Champions League hopefuls, Newcastle United.

Everton bid farewell to Goodison Park at the weekend with three points which has now secured them 13th spot

Although Everton do not have much more than pride to play for at the weekend, it is still all at stake for Newcastle.

The Friedkins are ready to back Moyes in the summer as they look to close the gap on the sides pushing for the European spots.

Despite not quite having the side capable of challenging yet, Paul Merson still thinks Everton could cause some issues on Sunday at St. James’ Park.

Paul Merson shares Newcastle United vs Everton prediction

A huge summer awaits Everton with the club undergoing some real changes both on and off the pitch.

Ashley Young and Abdoulaye Doucoure are leaving Everton at the end of their current contracts but there are still some players fighting for their futures.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, Merson has admitted three points for Newcastle is not a forgone conclusion ahead of Sunday.

“This is a dangerous game for Newcastle because Everton are one of those teams that never lie down,” he said.

“No matter what kind of season they go through, Everton never roll over or make it easy for their opponents. If Alexander Isak is not fit to play this game, then it becomes a really tough task for Newcastle.

“Home advantage will count, but the longer it stays 0-0, Everton will sense more than just an outside chance to nick a win.

“A draw might be good enough for Newcastle to qualify for the Champions League. But I don’t think they would want to leave it down to chance. All these teams want to win on Sunday and I think Newcastle will edge it.”

Jordan Pickford saved an Anthony Gordon penalty when these two sides last met earlier in the season.

Everton have shown some fine form on the road under Moyes, but they will be up against a Newcastle side in desperate need of three points.

Everton eyeing huge progress over the summer

Moyes has already proven Merson wrong after the Sky Sports pundit disagreed with his appointment in January.

The Scot has worked wonders on Merseyside to pull Everton clear of the relegation battle with months to go in the season.

The Friedkins are eyeing a big summer where they will be able to splash their cash for the first time.

Exciting times lie ahead for Everton under their new owners, but this summer will provide a good idea of their ambition for the club.
