According to BBC Sport, Leandro Trossard is close to securing a pay rise from the Arsenal hierarchy.
The report states that the Belgian’s current deal runs until 2027, with no plans at present to extend beyond that. That’s a surprise to many, including us, as most sources, such as Fabrizio Romano and Transfermarkt, had listed his contract as expiring in 2026. The Athletic has since corroborated the 2027 date.
Trossard joined Arsenal from Brighton in January 2023 and has proved a valuable asset to Mikel Arteta, racking up 50 goal contributions (28 goals and 22 assists) in 123 appearances.
Primarily used on the left of the attack, the 30-year-old has also filled in through the middle, off the right, and even in midfield – versatility that should keep him useful even if, as expected, Arsenal strengthen their forward options this summer.
New sporting director Andrea Berta is leading negotiations. According to Sami Mokbel, “the process has been accelerated in recent weeks and there is now growing optimism an agreement is close.”
The Italian is also handling talks with Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Magalhães, William Saliba, Ethan Nwaneri, and Myles Lewis-Skelly.
