Manchester United search for Sancho suitors as Chelsea consider get-out clause

Manchester United want to sell Jadon Sancho even if Chelsea decide against their obligation to sign the winger permanently.

Sancho joined Chelsea on loan last summer and the West Londoners have an obligation to make the move permanent for a fee of £25m.

However, Chelsea are understood to be considering activating a get-out clause in the deal that would see the transfer cancelled, with the Blues paying a compensation fee of £5m.

Sancho’s move to Chelsea pre-dated Ruben Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford as head coach, but the change of manager will have no bearing on his Manchester United future. Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs has confirmed that United plan to sell Sancho regardless of Chelsea’s decision.

The 25-year-old failed to live up to expectations after joining Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of £72.9m in 2022. He scored just 12 times in 83 appearances and endured a public fall-out with former manager Erik ten Hag.

After a loan spell at Borussia Dortmund last season, he joined Chelsea for the 2024/25 season. However, Sancho has faded following an initial bright start at Stamford Bridge. He has started 18 times in the Premier League this season, scoring three goals and providing four assists.
