Newcastle United issue updates on Alexander Isak, Joelinton and Kieran Trippier.
The Magpies host Everton at St James’ Park knowing a win will guarantee Champions League qualification for a second time in three seasons.
And United hope to have Isak available after being without their top scorer for last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Arsenal.
Newcastle United issue Alexander Isak update
The Swede travelled with his teammates to North London the day before the game but after feeling some discomfort in his groin at the team hotel was left out of the matchday squad. He was immediately sent for a scan, which showed inflammation.
Isak is yet to resume full training but has undergone individual work and felt “pain feel”.
Providing an update, Howe said: “He is doing okay. He hasn't trained with us yet but he's made good progress through the week. The next couple of days will be absolutely crucial to his availability on Sunday.
“There's a chance. It's difficult to give any more than that really. Until he trains with us, we won't fully know how he's going to respond to the training and the demands that the game will place upon him.
“We'll only play him if he's fit to contribute. But at the moment, he has an opportunity potentially.
“I think we'll leave it till tomorrow but obviously this week he's been training just individually and building up his load so he's been running and feels okay at the moment. But of course running is one thing and kicking a ball and doing all the other things that you need to do is another.

“So, so far what he's been asked to do, he's done it pain-free and he's done it well. So the next two days will be absolutely crucial.”
Newcastle United provide Kieran Trippier update
Howe says Trippier is in the same position as Isak. The former England international has recently been sidelined with a calf issue but could return versus Everton.
“He's a player again probably in a similar situation to Alex,” said Howe. “He hasn't trained with us yet and he's had an absence of maybe two, two and a half weeks. But he has a chance maybe in the next couple of days to build up his load and maybe we'll see him train tomorrow. Let's wait and see.”
Newcastle United without Joelinton
Joelinton has been nursing a knee issue since February and after going to visit a specialist last month has missed the last four matches.
Howe hadn’t totally ruled out the Brazilian playing before the end of the season but has confirmed he won’t be available this weekend.
“No, Joelinton won't be back,” Howe said. “He's had another injection in his knee which was always on the cards potentially for him. He's in a knee brace only as a protection from that injection really. He's making good progress. We envisage that he will be back for pre-season with no problems.”
