Victor Osimhen Chelsea transfer twist as'talks ongoing'with£63m stance revealed

Napoli star Victor Osimhen is said to be in talks to complete a permanent transfer this summer, but it is not with Chelsea. The Nigeria international, on loan at Galatasaray, has been linked to a Stamford Bridge switch for the last two seasons, though a move has never materialised mostly down to financial reasons.

Late into last summer's window, Chelsea tried to sign Osimhen on a temporary basis but could not reach an agreement with Napoli. As the transfer window closed in most European countries, Osimhen was somewhat forced to join Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Nine months on from sealing that move, it's fair to say that he has enjoyed his spell there with two trophies won. Prior to even securing both the league title and Turkish cup, it was made clear by Osimhen how he feels about Galatasaray.

Speaking in February, he said: "I don't know [about the future], to be honest. A few months ago, nobody ever thought I would come to Galatasaray, despite how big of a club they are.

"I live for the moment. [As] for what's going to happen in the summer, I don't know, but I want everyone to understand something: I really love this club so much. I love the fans, I love everyone associated with this club, from the president down to the coaching staff."

Despite that heartfelt admission, Osimhen remaining at Galatasaray is highly unlikely especially with Napoli wanting to sell him permanently for £63million (€75m).

In terms of clubs that could sign the 26-year-old, Juventus and Chelsea appear to be the ones battling for his signature, but a new team has entered the race and seemingly become immediate frontrunners.

According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, a move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal is the most concrete outcome with talks already ongoing. Their report has added that Osimhen is also keen on the move.

Based on that, Chelsea will have work quickly in order to sign Osimhen if he is the striker they ultimately choose to sign. However, it must be noted that there are plenty of alternatives with Liam Delap, Benjamin Sesko and Jonathan David all featuring on the club's shortlist.
