Brighton & Hove Albion’s Tariq Lamptey picked up a foot injury in March and that forced him to spend close to 40 days on the sidelines.
The left-back regained full fitness at the end of April and since then, played two games for the Seagulls. His contract at The Amex expires in June and it’s unclear where he will play next season.
Africa Foot have a report on the 24-year-old and their title says his stay at Brighton is ‘more uncertain than ever’.
That’s because the Premier League club haven’t made a renewal offer to the defender just yet.
He’s open to extending his stay but Brighton don’t share the same views, which is why they haven’t opened talks for the renewal. In fact, the report states Fabian Hürzeler’s side insist on not offering an extension.
As things stand, the Ghana international will leave Brighton as a free agent and needs to find a new club in the summer window.
According to Africa Foot, Ajax contacted his entourage recently but didn’t make a concrete offer. This, coupled with Brighton’s refusal to offer an extension has ‘frustrated’ Lamptey.
That’s according to a source from AC Talent, an agency that manages the fullback.
‘Frankly, his future is uncertain now, more than ever, given Brighton’s lack of intention to offer a new deal. It’s even worse with Ajax making contact without any offer following. It’s frustrating, you know, but it’s not all over. All options remain open, and anything can happen this summer. All parties involved are working to find his next club, but it will take some time,’ a source said.
To sum it up, Lamptey is heading for The Amex exit door and has to find a new club.
