Manchester United forward wants move away from Old Trafford

The fallout from Manchester United’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham continues to ripple through the club.

Sunday’s final Premier League fixture against Aston Villa will mark the end of a bitterly disappointing campaign.

With no European football secured for next season and the pressure of Financial Fair Play looming large, sweeping changes are expected this summer.

Ruben Amorim remains under scrutiny after a string of tactical errors in high-stakes matches, but United’s attention has quickly shifted to revamping a squad that has simply underperformed.

One of the most glaring issues for United this term has been the lack of a consistent goal threat, particularly in the striker role.

Now, Rasmus Hojlund’s time at Old Trafford appears to be nearing its end, with the young Danish forward pushing for a move away.

Transfer insider Graeme Bailey told United in Focus that the striker is “actively looking to get out” after just one season.

“Hojlund is actively looking to get out at United as well now, he’s accepted his fate, and he knows what it is,” Bailey revealed.

“Whether it be to Italy or Germany, where his brothers are playing, I think everyone has accepted that it is best to move on now and get as much money back as they can.

“The player accepts it, and it is a likely scenario that they part ways.”

The former Atalanta forward has struggled to live up to expectations, netting just 10 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions.

In response, United have been scouring the market for a replacement, with Matheus Cunha already secured, but more firepower needed.

According to Bailey, United have their eyes firmly set on Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, who is now seen as the frontrunner to take over the No. 9 role.

“Delap’s a firm favourite,” he said.

“I wouldn’t say he’s nailed on just yet, but very, very likely to be joining United.

“The thing with Delap is it’s the player’s choice and he is favouring United and wants to live in the North West, which will swing it for him.”

Victor Osimhen remains on the radar, though his price tag may be an obstacle.

As for Viktor Gyokeres, Bailey admitted the Swedish striker isn’t convinced about joining United.

With Rasmus Hojlund on the way out and Delap likely inbound, it’s shaping up to be a striker shake-up that could define United’s summer.
