Arsenal will be considering a number of factors before committing to a move for Real Madrid star Rodrygo in this summer's transfer window, a new report has claimed.
The Brazil international could leave Madrid ahead of the 2025/26 season with the expected arrival of Xabi Alonso as the club's new head coach and confirmed departure of Luka Modric seeing significant change already take place in the Spanish capital.
Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham all being at the club has seen Rodrygo's minutes impacted and with Arda Guler and Endrick as talents for the future, his game time may continue to decrease going forward.
If he does become available for transfer, it is very likely that Arsenal will be joined by several European clubs in the race for his signature, but football.london understands Chelsea are not one of those.
The Blues have deemed his wages are too high and therefore are not looking at signing him this summer. Arsenal meanwhile, appear to be considering a move with Arteta asked about the Madrid attacker indirectly on Friday
"Well, I wouldn't like to name a player," he began when asked what it shows that Arsenal are being linked to elite-level players. "But obviously we have come... I think the biggest thing is that, and using the word pride, is that we have brought the club into a position, into a place that next season: ‘You have to win a major trophy.’
"That means that everybody believes that we have the level, that we have shown the consistency, and we are an elite team in this country and in Europe. And if you don't do that, then what's going to happen? So, for me, that's the biggest statement, that Arsenal is there."
Rodrygo would be quite the statement addition but journalist David Ornstein has raised some important questions over what Arsenal will be considering when making their final decision.
"Rodrygo is obviously really well liked at Arsenal, but that isn’t surprising and it doesn’t mean they will recruit him," he admitted in an Athletic Q&A.
"Again, loads of factors — such as, what are the club-to-club, player and agent terms? Do Arsenal want to make a proper push? Is it affordable with all the other business they need/want to do? Would somebody have to leave and how likely is that? Does Rodrygo want to join Arsenal? Who else is in contention?”
football.london understands that Arsenal do want to sign a wide forward, which Rodrygo is, alongside a striker, defender and back-up goalkeeper. That is an addition to Martin Zubimendi joining from Real Sociedad.
